Many Photos and Videos as Pacific Air Express Boeing B757-200F VH-PQA Pops into Rockhampton and Mackay Airports

A great day for Central Queensland plane spotters on Friday 21 December with the recently delivered Pacific Air Express Boeing B757-225(PCF) Freighter VH-PQA completing a training flight into both Rockhampton and Mackay Airports.

VH-PQA was delivered to Pacific Air Express at Brisbane in late November and has operated several training and proving flights over the last few weeks.  On Friday, it initially touched down at Rockhampton Airport from Brisbane as 'PCF5'  "Pacific 5".

VH-PQA then departed Rocky and flew up to Mackay Airport as 'PCF6' where it landed, parked and then took off once again and returned to Rockhampton Airport but as 'PCF7'.

VH-PQA completed a missed approach onto Rocky's Runway 33 before coming back around and landing again for a short time.

VH-PQA then returned to Brisbane this time as 'PCF8'.

Of interest, the Boeing B757-225(PCF) Freighter (MSN 22611) initially landed at Christchurch in New Zealand in March this year as N315ST.  It was registered to 'Aerolease' and flew in from Goodyear in Arizona via Phoenix, Honolulu and Apia.

This airframe has had a somewhat varied life, starting out in 1985 with Eastern Air Lines in the USA with whom it operated until 1991 as N522EA.  Following this, it spent time with a number of operators before being converted to a freighter in May 2007.  After flying again with a number of operators, at the conclusion of its time with DHL, it had been in storage at Goodyear since mid-2017.

Sincere thanks to the local plane spotters for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos of a great visitor to CQ!

  1. Great photos of PQA.
It had been stored at Goodyear since mid 2017, not 2007.
