More from Emerald Airport as QantasLink Opens a Regional Lounge
As mentioned previously on this Blog (link HERE), QantasLink has formally announced an increase in services to several of its Central Queensland destinations. New flights to Emerald Airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays were announced, boosting the number of return services between Emerald and Brisbane to 38, providing another 396 seats on the route each week.
In addition to this a new Qantas Regional Lounge has been officially opened at Emerald Airport to offer Qantas Club members, and Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers greater levels of comfort when travelling through the airport.
Local newspaper, the CQ News was present for the opening.
These recent product and schedule enhancements represents a significant increase in QantasLink's investment in regional Queensland and were in response to customer demand for more services to and from regional Queensland.
The completion of the lounge also represents the completion of another part of the Emerald Airport upgrade.
Travelling workers in the nearby mines will also note the numerous boot cleaners outside the terminal which - as this recent photo shows - does receive quite a workout!
It is an exciting time for QantasLink and Emerald Airport. For QantasLink, the Emerald lounge now one of 10 regional airports across Australia with the signature lounge, and QantasLink has similar plans for Mackay and Gladstone airports too. Meanwhile Emerald Airport is expecting a passenger screening and security check-point to open soon, just in time for Virgin Australia ATR-72s to start flying to Emerald in January 2012 (as reported HERE).
