Community Invited to Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport Open Day

The Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport will be holding a community open day on Sunday 22 January from around 2pm until 5pm.

The airport's General Manager for Business Development has said the purpose of the open day was to properly introduce the newly refurbished facility to the community - as highlighted in this Blog Post HERE.

There was the official opening with the government last month, but the Whitsunday Regional Council is very keen to open the doors of the redeveloped airport to the community, and for the community to have access to the airport.

The open day will include helicopter joyflights, static aircraft displays, a jumping castle, face painting, local entertainers, and a charity barbecue. There will also be an unveiling ceremony for the airport's new official plaque.

Meanwhile, Council is reportedly still trying to set the Whitsundays region (which includes Proserpine, Collinsville and Bowen) as a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) and other charter mining hub for the growing Galilee Basin mining region.
