It seemed to be all happening at Mackay Airport on Saturday 25 August, with some interesting aircraft visiting, as well as more fog and low cloud rolling through, causing more disruptions to flights.
The interesting visitors included a nice pair of bizjets, and a Skytrans Dash-8 charter from Cairns. After the weather cleared, the Queensland Government Raytheon Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY was first to land at Mackay Airport. VH-SGY was closely followed by Cessna 525 CitationJet VH-KXL, which is operated by Edwards Coaches of Armidale in New South Wales. Later Skytrans Dash-8-100 VH-QQK arrived at Mackay from Cairns as SKP1053. It is scheduled to depart later as SKP1054.
Virgin Australia B737-800 VH-YIE was the victim of the inclement weather at Mackay on Saturday 25 August, with the aircraft unable to land at Mackay Airport after operating VOZ609 from Brisbane. VH-YIE diverted to the Whitsunday Coast / Proserpine Airport, and was later noted re-positioning to Mackay as VOZ9926. VH-YIE later departed Mackay Airport to Brisbane as VOZ610.
