QantasLink - Cobham Aviation - Boeing B717-200 VH-NXR Pops into Gladstone Airport Monday

One of the two recently acquired QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200's was the star arrival into Gladstone Airport on Monday 15 October.  VH-NXR flew into Brisbane over the weekend from Cairns, and had previously flown into Mackay and Rockhampton Airports on Sunday 14 October.  It is the aircraft's first time in Central Queensland!

VH-NXR touched down on Monday morning as QF1702 from Brisbane, and was photographed by Shane T parked on the lower apron at Gladstone Airport awaiting its passengers.

It later departed as QF1703 back to Brisbane.

Other QantasLink movements through Gladstone Airport during the morning included a couple of the older Dash-8-Q400 aircraft that are in the Sunstate Airlines-operated fleet.  VH-QOF is pictured arriving from and departing back to Brisbane.

While VH-QOE is pictured touching down from Rockhampton as QLK2301.

Shane also spotted a couple of Virgin Australia (Skywest Airlines) ATR 72-500 aircraft operating through Gladstone Airport arriving from and departing back to Brisbane.

VH-FVX is pictured departing early in morning.  The photo below is taken from Round Mountain, which is seemingly a great vantage point for arriving and departing aircraft, as well as giving a nice overview of the airport itself.

VH-FVL was photographed touching down at Gladstone Airport as DJ1711.

Outside of Gladstone Airport, Shane noted a couple of new billboard posters have gone up advertising QantasLink's new Gladstone to Sydney services, as well as Virgin Australia's most recent advertising campaign - "Now You're Flying".

At the General Aviation apron, Shane photographed General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) AeroCommander 500-S VH-YJR, which is shown resting in between freight flights.

Lastly, Shane noted a couple of helicopters flying around, with Eurocopter EC135 P2 VH-ZGZ departing on (presumably) another marine pilot transfer flight to a ship in Gladstone Harbour.

Also, locally based Robinson R-44 helicopter VH-JWN had a big morning if training making various approaches and the like into the Airport during the morning.
