Pel-Air / Regional Express (REX) SAAB 340 Aircraft Back on Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) Charters to Emerald Airport

Pel-Air / Regional Express (REX) SAAB 340 turboprop aircraft have once again been noted flying into Emerald Airport operating fly-in fly-out (FIFO) charter flights from and back to Brisbane.  It appears that from the start of September, SAAB 340s will operate into Emerald each Tuesday evening and again early Wednesday morning.

Thus far, late on Tuesday 3 September and again on Tuesday 10 September, SAAB 340 VH-ZRL has flown into Emerald from Brisbane as PFY9286, returning to the capital later that evening as PFY9287.  While, on Wednesday 4 September and again on Wednesday 11 September, SAAB 340 (and frequent visitor) VH-EKD operated the early morning PFY9282/9283 from and back to Brisbane.

Brisbane-based plane spotter, Brendan B captured VH-EKD operating into Emerald last week.

The SAAB 340s have been absent from Emerald Airport for some time, with Skytrans Airlines Dash-8-300s noted flying in from Brisbane each Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Incidentally, Skytrans operated a pair of charter flights from Brisbane into Biloela / Thangool Airport on Saturday 14 September, with Dash-8-300 VH-QQN flying as SKP705/6 and Dash-8-300 VH-QQP flying as SKP726/7.
