Busy times at Hamilton Island Airport in recent days continued on Saturday 3 October with the usual commercial traffic as well as a pair of Alliance Airlines charters calling in and the continuing mass exodus of corporate bizjets which come and go from the Airport.
Both Alliance Airlines charters touched down in the afternoon with Fokker F-100 jet VH-FKA (pictured above) operating as UTY574/575 flying from Brisbane into Hamo and onto Sydney, while Fokker F-70 VH-QQX operated a return flight from and back to Cairns as UTY581. Of interest, VH-QQX has recently been unveiled in a 'corporate jet' layout with 34 large leather seats.
Meanwhile, the great variety of exotic overseas corporate bizjets that have called into Hamilton Island Airport over the last few days have begun departing to various ports - or calling back in to collect passengers before departing.
On Saturday 3 October, Business Aviation Solutions Cessna 650 Citation VII VH-DHN looked to position from Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport to Hamo in preparation for a departure possibly on Sunday 4 October.
UPDATE! VH-DHN did depart Hamo on Sunday 4 October, flying to Cairns and the Gold Coast.
After arriving the previous weekend from Pago Pago and Sydney, Embraer ERJ-190-Lineage 1000 (ERJ-190-100 ECJ) N666GL departed Hamilton Island for Sydney and Darwin on also on Saturday 3 October. At the time of writing it had also filed a flight plan to return to Beijing Airport in China.
Hong Kong Jet Gulfstream Aerospace G-V-SP Gulfstream G550 B-KHJ - which I captured below parked at Mackay Airport on Friday 2 October - positioning back to Hamilton Island Airport on Saturday 3 October and later departed to the Gold Coast. It then flew to Sydney and back to the Gold Coast.
VistaJet Malta Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global 6000 9H-VJN also returned to Hamilton Island Airport on Saturday 3 October but after overnighting at Cairns. It later departed to Sydney and Honolulu and later Teterboro Airport in the USA. It was noted using the same flight number and callsign of 'VJT869V' for all of its flights.
On Friday 2 October, the very smart looking TAG Aviation Asia Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global 6000 VP-CZL departed Hamilton Island for Sydney as 'TBJ67'. Sister-ship and fellow Global 6000 bizjet VP-CEW returned to Hamo also on Friday 2 October after overnighting in Townsville, before it departed back to Townsville and then onwards to Hong Kong. It was noted using the same flight number and callsign of 'TBJ80' for all of its flights.
Netjets International Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global 6000 N142QS positioned from Mackay (where it pictured below on Wednesday 30 September) to Hamilton Island on Friday 2 October and later departed Hamo for Cairns and Honolulu. It has since flown on to Teterboro and the Baden Airpark Airport (Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport) in Germany!
Finally, of the local corporate bizjets, Shortstop Jet Charter British Aerospace BAe-125-1000B VH-LMP visited Hamilton Island Airport once again on Saturday 2 October from its Melbourne (Essendon) base, while Mitchell Air / Australian Corporate Jet Centres' Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign VH-EXQ departed Hamo for Sydney and Essendon also on Friday.
According to my calculations, this only leaves Silver Linings Aviation Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign VH-ZEK parked on Hamilton Island.
What a week it's been!
