Qantas Airways Boeing B747-438(ER) VH-OEG Out and Back and Out Again at Rockhampton Airport
After arriving into the beef capital the previous evening - see Blog post below - on Thursday 6 June, the visiting Qantas Airways Boeing B747-438(ER) VH-OEG made a spectacular departure from Rockhampton Airport, positioning empty to Adelaide as QFA6163.
After collecting a load of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their bags, VH-OEG returned to Rockhampton Airport and made another spectacular arrival back from Adelaide but as QFA1375.
After unloading and a refuel, VH-OEG departed Rockhampton Airport once again, positioning empty to Sydney as QFA6164.
As mentioned below, it could potentially be the final time we see a Qantas 'jumbo jet' in Central Queensland. VH-OEG 'Parkes' is one of seven B747-400 jumbo jets that Qantas still operate. It was the third of six Boeing B747-438(ER)s ordered new by Qantas and was delivered at the end of 2002.
Sincere thanks to the local plane spotters for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos of a great visitor to Rockhampton Airport.
