Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan Transport Aircraft A34-005 and A34-009 at Rockhampton Airport

On Friday 18 July, there was not one but two Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft noted and photographed visiting Rockhampton Airport.

After arriving into Rocky on Wednesday 16 July, A34-005 was spotted completing a local flight before departing to RAAF Base Amberley and back on Thursday 17 July.  It again flew as "Wallaby 20".

Then on Friday 18 July, A34-005 "Wallaby 20" completed a return flight to Brisbane and back to Rockhampton Airport.

Meanwhile, also on Friday 18 July, fellow C-27J Spartan A34-009 was also spotted visiting Rockhampton Airport.  It arrived from Townsville and then completed a return flight to the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) and back.  It then returned to Townsville.

A34-009 was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Wallaby 02".

Certainly a nice change to have a Spartan visit Rocky that isn't A34-005!

As mentioned previously, 10 of the C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifter aircraft are flown by 35 Squadron out of RAAF Base Amberley.
