During the late afternoon on Thursday 18 July, two of the three visiting Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) NH Industries NH90 helicopters deployed to Australia to participate in joint Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 (TS19) were photographed arriving into 'Camp Rocky' - the Australian Army Defence Support Unit (DSU) camp adjacent to Rockhampton Airport.
Local plane spotter Steve V captured some great photos as (what looks to be) NZ3306 and NZ3308 landed at Camp Rocky after flying in from the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA). The two NH-90s were heard to be using the one radio callsign of "Warrior".
The third NH90 that came to Australia to participate in the joint Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 (TS19) - serial NZ3302 - was again not sighted.
As mentioned previously, all three NH90s are flown by the RNZAF's Number 3 Squadron based at RNZAF Base Ohakea near Palmerston North in New Zealand. As posted below, they all arrived on board the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) multi-role vessel HMNZS Canterbury at the Gladstone Port recently.
Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Steve V for allowing us to share his great photos!
