On Sunday 24 November, Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) (Cobham SAR Services Pty Ltd) Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet VH-XNF was also noted arriving into Hamilton Island Airport.

It looked to fly all the way up from Melbourne (Essendon) where it is currently based and looked to be completing a sortie for AMSA with it flying as “Rescue 550”.

The Challenger appeared to fly to a position to the North-East of Hamo and complete several circuits before landing at Hamilton Island Airport where it took on fuel.

After a couple of hours on the ground, VH-XNF departed Hamilton Island Airport and returned directly to Essendon.

As we've previously reported, Cobham SAR Services Pty Ltd (Cobham) was contracted in 2014 to provide a new search and rescue agreement for AMSA using four Bombardier Challenger CL-604 bizjets from late 2016 for a period of 12 years.
