The two Chinooks were identified as A15-304 and A15-308 and are both operated by the Australian Army's 5th Aviation Regiment (5 Avn Regt) 'C' Squadron based at Townsville.
They looked to fly separately into Rocky from Townsville with A15-308 flying as "Chainsaw 11" and A15-304 a few minutes behind as "Chainsaw 12".
After taking on fuel, both Chinooks departed separately from Rockhampton Airport for the South East.
