Townsville plane spotter Dave ventured out to the Central West town of Longreach - the historic and spiritual cornerstone of Qantas - and has sent through some of his many spectacular photos as Boeing B737-800 VH-XZP 'Retro Roo' touched down at Longreach Airport on Saturday 31 October on a charity flight from Sydney.
VH-XZP is painted in a special 'retro' colour scheme featuring the iconic ochre colour scheme first introduced by Qantas in 1967. In fact, looking at Dave's photos from the day, the crew - and maybe some passengers - even got into the 'Retro' theme donning various items from the 1960's and 1970's for the flight!
The charity flight - which was actually fully booked shortly after it was announced - will raise money for the Western Queensland Drought Appeal.
Passengers were welcomed to Longreach and treated to a private tour and lunch at the Qantas Founders Museum and the aircraft that they have display.
The B737-800 VH-XZP departed back to Sydney around 3pm - sadly not flying home via Rockhampton Airport as was speculated during this last week.
Our sincere thanks to Dave for not only capturing these stunning photos of a great day in Longreach, but for also taking the time to prepare and send them through! Thanks mate!
