A Terrific Thursday Afternoon at Rockhampton Airport

Ben O was lucky enough to pop out to Rockhampton Airport on Thursday 19 July, and what a fantastic afternoon he had!

First of all, Qantas Airways B747-400 VH-OJD arrived back into Rockhampton yet again - this time arriving back from Darwin as QF6167.

It had departed earlier in the day as QF1353.

Shortly after, Careflight Queensland LearJet 45 VH-CXJ arrived from Townsville.  After a quick turnaround, it departed to Brisbane, where interestingly, VH-CXJ's sistership and fellow LearJet 45 VH-VVI was also bound after it overflew Rockhampton Airport.

However, perhaps the best action was saved for the late afternoon, where a nice pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aircraft graced the skies over Rockhampton Airport.

First up, RAAF Boeing B737-7ES Wedgetail, A30-004, overflew Rockhampton Airport at low level, before turning around and performing a spectacular missed approach onto Rockhampton Airport's Runway 15.

It then departed to the South as "Wedgetail 05".

A little later, RAAF Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules A97-448 also overflew Rockhampton Airport, and then turned overhead outbound before landing on Runway 15.

Last reports were that the Herc was parked on Taxiway Juliette at Rockhampton Airport.
