Virgin Australia Takes Out More Awards and Begins Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) Charters to Moranbah Airport

It was announced late last week that Virgin Australia has been recognised at the prestigious 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards for ‘Best Airline’ and ‘Best Staff Service’ in the Australia Pacific region.

The World Airline Awards are decided on by airline passengers from around the world, who judge their end-to-end airline experience in a voluntary survey. This year, the survey was carried out over a 10-month period, included over 200 domestic and international airlines and canvassed the opinions of over 18 million airline passengers.

Meanwhile, as foreshadowed recently in a Blog Post about the upgraded Moranbah Airport (HERE), Virgin Australia have started flying fly-in fly-out (FIFO) charters to Moranbah Airport from Townsville utilising Skyest Airline-operated ATR 72-500 aircraft.

The first ATR to touch down on the new charter service was VH-FVU, which arrived late on Monday 16 July as "Virgin 703 Alpha".  VH-FVU soon departed back to Townsville, before returning to Moranbah again early on Tuesday 17 July, this time as "Virgin 700 Alpha".

I hope to get to Moranbah soon to grab a photo!
