On
Sunday 12 September, a pair of Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 jets were spotted visiting Rockhampton Airport, bringing players and support staff to the beef capital for the National Rugby League (NRL) semi-finals game between the Parramatta Eels and the Newcastle Knights.
The Knights travelled to Rocky from the Sunshine Coast on board Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 VH-JFE which touched down at Rockhampton Airport as UTY3396.
While the Eels flew up from the Gold Coast on board fellow Fokker F-70 VH-QQW which touched down at Rockhampton Airport as UTY3392.
After the game, just after sunset, both Alliance Airlines aircraft returned to their respective departure points with VH-JFE returning to the Sunshine Coast but as UTY3397 and VH-QQW returning to the Gold Coast but as UTY3393.
Meanwhile, also on Sunday 12 September, and making it an Alliance Airlines trifecta, Fokker F-100 VH-UQG called back into Rockhampton Airport from Ayres Rock as UTY570 marking the (almost) end of its closed charter flight to the 'Red Centre'.
VH-UQG then departed to Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport before then departing to Townsville but as UTY573.
VH-UQG had originally departed Townsville and passed through Hervey Bay and Rockhampton Airports heading to Ayres Rock on Friday 10 September.
Sincere thanks to local photographer Steve V and local plane spotter John L for allowing us to share these great photos!
