Ex Hamel 2018 - Several ADF Movements Around Rockhampton Airport - Plus Air Affairs LearJets Still Flying from Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport

As the joint Military Exercise Hamel 2018 continues in the nearby Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA), there continues to be a nice selection of Australian Defence Force (ADF) aircraft and helicopters popping into - and above - various CQ Airports.

During the morning on Thursday 21 June, Australian Army NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopter A40-011 popped in and out of Rockhampton Airport from Shoalwater Bay at least twice as "Warhorse 11".   A40-011 was also noted visiting Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 20 June but as "Warhorse 31".

Also on Thursday 21 June, fellow Army MRH-90 A40-038 was later noted visiting as "Hustler 11"., while Royal Australian Navy (RAN) NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopter A40-043 was back visiting Rockhampton Airport, noted departing to Shoalwater Bay again as "Poseidon 43".

Of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) movements in and out - and over - Rockhampton Airport, on Thursday 21 June, Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft A34-005 "Wallaby 05" was noted flying out and back to Shoalwater Bay from Rockhampton Airport before later departing to RAAF Base Amberley as "Wallaby 05".

A34-005 was noted completing a similar flight from Rockhampton Airport to Shoalwater Bay and back on Wednesday 20 June but as "Wallaby 03".

RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-007 was back in the skies over CQ, heard flying in and out of Shoalwater Bay from and back to Townsville (where it appears to be  based) this time flying as "Blackcat 52".

RAAF Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-005 "Dragon 31" was noted flying down from the North and turned overhead Rocky before entering the Shoalwater Bay Training Area.  It was heard to be flying with RAAF Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets ("Savage 71") which came up from Amberley.

Finally, just on dark on Thursday 21 June, the trio of Raytheon Australia / Air Affairs (Australia) Learjets were in the air out of Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport.  It is believed that  Learjet 35A VH-ESM was again "Shadow 11" while fellow Learjet 35A VH-SLE and Learjet 36 VH-SLJ flew into formation as "Bosun 11".
