Many Photos from Bowen Airport as Australian Army Boeing CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook and NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters Complete Insertion Exercise from HMAS Canberra

Local plane spotter James K has again shared with us some wonderful photos he captured this time at Bowen Airport on Tuesday 5 June as Australian Army Boeing CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook Helicopter A15-303 and NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters A40-008, A40-041 and A40-042 completed a troop insertion exercise after earlier departing from the helicopter deck of HMAS Canberra.

A fourth MRH-90 A40-021 was later spotted also popping into Bowen Airport.

As we have reported below, elements of the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) have been completing training drills, including amphibious landings on the nearby beachfront, all as a part of the RAN's Exercise Sea Explorer 2018.

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Canberra-class landing helicopter dock (LHD) ship aptly named HMAS Canberra (III) remains in waters off Bowen.

The HMAS Canberra (III) (L02) is the lead ship of the Canberra-class landing helicopter dock (LHD) ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy.  It is described as the current flagship of the RAN fleet.

Certainly some great photos and we sincerely thank James for taking the time to capture and send then through!
