RAAF Canadair Challenger 604 A37-001 & Qld Government Hawker 850XP VH-SGY Spotted Back at CQ Airports

Early on Saturday 1 December, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Canadair CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet A37-001 was photographed touching down at Gladstone Airport from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales.  It was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Wisdom 19".

The Challenger was noted bringing Nationals Leader Michael McCormack who also happens to be the Acting Prime Minister as PM Scott Morrison is currently overseas.  He toured nearby bushfire areas and spoke to local emergency service personnel and residents.

Engagements complete, Mr McCormack boarded the Challenger and A37-001 then headed North to Mackay Airport where it looked to be spending the night.

UPDATE!  On Sunday 2 December, A37-001 "Wisdom 19" departed Mackay Airport for Canberra.

Meanwhile, earlier at Mackay Airport, also on Saturday 1 December, the Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) Raytheon Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY was spotted parked after earlier arriving from Brisbane.

It appears to have brought Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to town.

VH-SGY has been making daily visits to various CQ Airports during this bushfire crisis.

On Saturday, VH-SGY later returned to Brisbane.

Sincere thanks to the local plane spotters for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
