Local plane spotter Jamie C has sent through some lovely photos of an absolutely fantastic evening's plane spotting that was had at Gladstone Airport on Wednesday 12 June as three special visitors called in to the port city.
FIFO Jet (of Brisbane) Metro II VH-SSV arrived in the late afternoon from Emerald. It later departed to Brisbane and Archerfield.
Then making a surprise and unexpected visit was Business Aviation Solutions Cessna 650 Citation VII bizjet VH-LYM.
Information suggests that VH-LYM was flying from Darwin to the Sunshine Coast and diverted to Gladstone due to the bad storms that were passing through parts of South East Queensland on Wednesday evening. It was certainly a welcome visitor, and eventually departed to the Sunshine Coast at around 8.30pm
Joining VH-LYM on the Gladstone Airport apron on Wednesday evening was Aerorescue (AMSA - Australian Maritime Safety Authority) Dornier 328-100 VH-PPV.
VH-PPV arrived direct from Cairns, and after taking on fuel at Gladstone, took to the air to undertake some air-work of the Queensland coast off Gladstone. VH-PPV eventually returned to Cairns. VH-PPV was heard to be using its usual radio callsign of "Rescue 441".
Some lovely atmospheric night photos from Jamie C at Gladstone Airport - they are truly spectacular.
But that's not all! The previous evening, on Tuesday 11 June, Jamie captured some lovely images of some of the night moves at Gladstone Airport, including QantasLink Dash-8-Q400s VH-QOF and VH-QON, and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines ATR 72-600 VH-FVR as they arrived at and departed from Gladstone Airport.
We sincerely thank Jamie C for continuing to support the CQ Plane Spotting Blog and sending through his absolutely fantastic photos!
