Bushfires in Local Area Bring a Trio of Aerial Water-bombing Aircraft and a Helicopter at Bundaberg Airport

Local plane spotter Samuel F was at the right place at the right time at Bundaberg Airport on Wednesday 13 March to capture a couple of photos of three visiting aerial water-bombing aircraft which have arrived to fight bushfires in the nearby Woodgate and Goodwood areas.

A pair of Air Tractor AT-802 water-bombing in form of VH-BQE "Bomber 427" of Kennedy Aviation at Gunnedah in New South Wales and VH-NFY of Meandarra Aerial Spraying "Bomber 426", were joined by Ayres Thrush S2R-T660 VH-FNV "Bomber 412" of South Burnett Air Services at Dalby.

It was also thought that an Aerospatiale AS350 Squirrel helicopter was also on the ground at Bundaberg Airport in support of the firefighting efforts.

Over the course of this week, bushfires have flared up in both the nearby Woodgate and Goodwood areas although storms that rolled through have assisted firefighting efforts.

Sincere thanks to Samuel F for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
