The final stage of works on the $46 million upgrade of Moranbah Airport is set to begin.
This stage of works will include construction of the new passenger terminal, a charter bus parking area, passenger vehicle parking for 100 vehicles, and three new aircraft parking bays giving a total of six bays on the airport apron.
The new terminal is planned to include areas to service RPT and fly-in fly-out (FIFO) and other charter flights. The terminal will also feature security screening, baggage-handling facilities, and hire-car facilities.
Moranbah Airport is already enjoying the arrival of the larger Dash-8-Q400 aircraft on QantasLink services as a result of completed upgrade works from stages 1 and 2. With stage 3 complete, the upgrade would bring the airport in line with other regional centres in terms of passenger facilities and services.
This stage of works will start soon and is expected to be complete by mid-2012.
