Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-001 Calls into Rockhampton Airport Once Again

Late on Friday 9 July, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-001 was spotted arriving into Rockhampton Airport once again.  Like its previous visits earlier in the week, A39-001 looked to arrive direct from Darwin but this time as "Dragon 43".

It taxied in and parked on Gate 6 on the Southern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron where personnel and their cargo were unloaded.  Information suggests the personnel and cargo brought to Rockhampton are once again for the upcoming joint Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2021.

Once the offload was complete, the KC-30A A39-001 "Dragon 43" departed Rockhampton Airport for RAAF Base Amberley.

Of interest, the RAAF currently has seven KC-30A MRTT aircraft are flown by 33 Squadron based at RAAF Base Amberley.  The Squadron is responsible for aerial refuelling and long-range passenger transport and is controlled by No. 86 Wing, which is part of Air Mobility Group.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Scott H for taking the time to capture and send through this great photo and video!
