Recently Delivered Virgin Australia Boeing B737-800 VH-YQH (ex VH-YFI) First Visit to CQ at Mackay Airport

On Friday 1 October, Virgin Australia Boeing B738-800 VH-YQH was noted making its first visit to Central Queensland, arriving into Mackay Airport as VOZ605 from Brisbane. It then departed back to Brisbane from Mackay Airport but as VOZ608.

VH-YQH at Brisbane Airport

This was the first time that the recently (re-)delivered aircraft has visited Central Queensland since it was returned to Australia in mid-July.

The B737-800 was previously operated by Virgin Australia as VH-YFI and was one of five aircraft that were re-registered and ferried back to lessors in the USA in 2020. VH-YFI took up the registration marking 2-VYFI and ferried out of Australia in mid-September 2020.

On Saturday 17 July, 2-VYFI arrived back in Australia from the USA and promptly took up the registration marking of VH-YQH. It re-entered services with Virgin Australia on Tuesday 14 September.

Of interest, it appears that VH-YQH is still named 'Porpoise Bay'.

The visit of VH-YQH leaves just the fifth and final B737-800 VH-YQG (ex VH-YFG / 2-VYFG) to make a (re-)appearance in CQ.
