Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-002 Calls into Rockhampton Airport but is Unable to Load

On Wednesday 5 June, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-002 was photographed arriving into Rockhampton Airport.

It flew up from RAAF Base Amberley as "Ausy 575" and reportedly flew into Rocky to transport troops home to the Philippines following their participation in joint military exercises recently held in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area.

Sadly though, due to the dangerous cargo on board - reportedly including flares amongst other items - the KC-30 was prohibited from parking on the Rockhampton Airport apron and instead was forced to sit idle at the end of taxiway 'Juliette' while issue were potentially sorted.

Some two hours later, A39-002 departed Rockhampton Airport for Townsville again as “Ausy 575”.

There is a possibility that the KC-30 will return to Rockhampton airport on Thursday 6 June and try again!

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter 'IAD' and Gladstone-based pilot Terry P for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
