On Thursday 10 September, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-006 was photographed as it was on finals prior to completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport. It was flying as "Dragon 24".
The MRTT had earlier departed RAAF Base Amberley and flew up directly to Rockhampton Airport. After completing the airwork, A39-006 returned to Amberley.
Of interest, A39-006 later was noted flying again out of Amberley but as "Dragon 25".
Meanwhile, also on Thursday 10 September, fellow KC-30A A39-001 "Dragon 34" came up at high level from Amberley to around Gladstone where it looked to then turn back to Amberley.
Also, another KC-30A, A39-007 as "Dragon 22" passed through Central Queensland airspace, flying from Amberley to Townsville before returning to Amberley via Cairns during the afternoon.
Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Scott H for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
