VH-ZEK at Hamilton Island Airport (File photo) |
On Wednesday 5 April, a nice pair of Cessna citation bizjets visited Hamo from different ports. Silver Linings Aviation Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign bizjet VH-ZEK was noted visiting for much of the afternoon arriving from and later departing back to Bankstown. While Homada Pty Ltd Cessna 560XL Citation XLS VH-XCU was noted arriving from Melbourne (Essendon) and later departing to Melbourne (Moorabbin).
Meanwhile, on Tuesday 4 April, the familiar sight of Balmoral Air Dassault Falcon 2000LX VH-WIO touched down once again at Hamilton. Island Airport. It also arrived from Bankstown.
Finally, operations seem to be returning to normal at Hamilton Island Airport, although it seems that both Jetstar Airways and Virgin Australia Airlines are not operating some flights possibly due to low passenger numbers. One notable 'irregularity' over the last few days has been Qantas Airways which has operated several additional services from and back to Brisbane utilising larger Boeing B737-800 aircraft. For example:
On Sunday 2 April, Boeing B737-838 VH-VZU operated an additional Sydney to Hamilton Island flight as QF1333 operating in place of the regular QF866 service. The aircraft then returned to Sydney operating the scheduled QF867 service.
On Monday 3 April, Boeing B737-838 VH-VZL operated an additional Brisbane to Hamilton Island rotation as QF1331/QF1332 operating in place of the QantasLink operated QF2824/QF2825 Dash-8-Q400 rotation.
On Tuesday 4 April, Boeing B737-838 VH-VYD operated an additional Brisbane to Hamilton Island rotation as QF1331/QF1332, again operating in place of the QantasLink operated QF2824/QF2825 Dash-8-Q400 rotation.
And on Wednesday 5 April, Boeing B737-838 VH-XZD operated an additional Sydney to Brisbane to Hamilton Island rotation as QF1333/QF1334.
