United States Navy Boeing C-40A Clipper and More at Rockhampton Airport Monday

A fantastic surprise for plane spotters at Rockhampton Airport on Monday 18 June with United States Navy (USN) Boeing C-40A Clipper (B737-7AFC) touching down. The Clipper - serial number 165835 - arrived from Darwin as "Convoy 7782" carrying a load of United States Marine Corps (USMC) troops.

The aircraft later departed back to Darwin, and word around the Airport was that it is due back to Rockhampton Airport again over the coming days... so keep those ears and eyes peeled!!

As the afternoon went on, three of the four 'resident' Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) British Aerospace (BAe) Hawk 127 jets departed from Rockhampton Airport. These aircraft were noted using the callsign "Panther 25".

Both A27-09 and A27-20 are pictured below taxiing after arriving back at Rockhampton Airport at the completion of their sortie.

Later A27-02 is pictured departing from, and then again shortly after arriving back at Rockhampton Airport.

One other RAAF aircraft spotted at Rockhampton Airport on Monday 18 June was RAAF Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-207, which performed a missed approach on Runway 15. It was noted using the callsign "Stallion 07".

Lastly, Australian Army Sikorsky S-70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter, A25-112, was noted again at Rockhampton Airport flying to the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA), using the callsign "Warhorse 112".

What a great day!
