Poolhurst Aviation Air Charter Services Pilatus PC-24 jet VH-VTF Arrives into Mackay Airport

On Friday 30 October, Poolhurst Aviation Air Charter Services Pilatus PC-24 jet VH-VTF was noted arriving into Mackay Airport from Archerfield.

This is the second visit to the region by the smart little newly delivered bizjet with it also visiting Hamilton Island Airport during the middle of the week - see Blog post below!

At the time of writing, it appears that VH-VTF is staying for at least the night at Mackay Airport.

UPDATE!  Early on Saturday 31 October, VH-VTF departed Mackay Airport and returned to Archerfield.

A Pair of Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47D Chinook Helicopters Pass Through Rockhampton Airport Heading Home to Oakey

On Thursday 29 October, a pair of Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopters were photographed passing through Rockhampton Airport, while returning 'home' to Oakey after completing exercises with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) at Townsville.







The CH-47D Chinook helicopters were identified wearing the serial numbers 88181 and 88183 and deployed to Townsville the previous week.  They are also two of five which deployed to the Oakey Army Aviation Centre some time ago and have previously deployed to Rocky during the Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby.

Each Chinook helicopter was noted flying in and out of Rockhampton Airport individually as "Cyclops 81" and "Cyclops 83".

McDermott Aviation / Heli-Lift Australia Helicopters Bell 214ST Super Transporter Helicopter N391AL Spotted at Mackay Airport

Early on Thursday 29 October, the unique sight and sound of McDermott Aviation / Heli-Lift Australia Helicopters Bell 214ST Super Transporter Helicopter N391AL was in the skies over Mackay.




The big Bell helicopter - named 'Guardian 1' - departed Mackay Airport bound for Cairns where it has been contracted to complete some heavy-lift work.


N391AL had arrived from its Cooroy base on the Sunshine Coast during the afternoon on Wednesday 28 October and remained overnight at Mackay Airport.

Meanwhile, another helicopter spotted at Mackay Airport early on Thursday 29 October was Townsville-based NQ Heli-Worx (Meridan Helicopters) Aerospatiale AS350 B2 Squirrel helicopter VH-MHE.


Its movements are not fully known.

LifeFlight (Aeromed) Canadair Challenger 604 Bizjet VH-OFA "Ambulance 614" Pops into Mackay Airport

During the evening on Wednesday 28 October, LifeFlight (Aeromed) Canadair CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet VH-OFA "Ambulance 614" was noted visiting Mackay Airport. It looked to arrive from Brisbane.

After some time on the ground, VH-OFA "Ambulance 614" was noted departing Mackay Airport for Townsville where it appears to be currently based.

Mackellar Mining Equipment / Flight Options (Australia) Cessna 560 Citation Ultra Bizjet VH-MMC Back at Clermont Aerodrome - Plus More!

On Wednesday 28 October, Mackellar Mining Equipment / Flight Options (Australia) Cessna 560 Citation Ultra bizjet VH-MMC was spotted once again visiting my local Clermont Aerodrome.  VH-MMC is a fairly regular visitor to my local Clermont Aerodrome with it touching down a fortnight ago and every couple of weeks over the previous couple of months.


Once again, it appears that the passengers from VH-MMC then joined Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-TFQ, which was earlier noted arriving direct from Rockhampton Airport as HND610. VH-TFQ then departed as HND611 up to the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's Carmichael Coal Mine site.  It then returned to Rocky but as HND612.




At the time of writing, VH-MMC appears to be closed up and staying for the night at Clermont Aerodrome.

UPDATE!  On Friday 30 October, VH-TFQ returned to Clermont Aerodrome from Labona as HND611 before returning to Rockhampton Airport as HND612.  While VH-MMC departed Clermont Aerodrome for Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Meanwhile, another couple of bizjets also noted around Central Queensland Airports, also on Wednesday 28 October, included Gulf Coast Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang bizjet VH-KXM which arrived back into Rockhampton Airport from the Sunshine Coast and later departed to Maramie (Dorunda) and Cairns.

While new Poolhurst Aviation Air Charter Services Pilatus PC-24 jet VH-VTF flew up to Hamilton Island Airport from Archerfield.  It then flew down to Port Lincoln and Adelaide in South Australia.

Finally, slightly smaller General Aviation (GA) visitors to CQ Airports, also on Wednesday 28 October, included FKG Air (Redjet Aviation) Hawker Beechcraft B200GT VH-FKB which visited Rockhampton Airport from Toowoomba and Archerfield.  While McDermott Aviation Group / Machjet International Beech B200 King Air VH-MWZ was spotted also visiting Rockhampton Airport.  It arrived from the North-West and departed to the Sunshine Coast.


Brisbane-based Hewitt Cattle Australia P/L SOCATA TBM 700 VH-PGA landed at Moura Airport from Archerfield before then departing to Longreach Airport and Ambalindum (YABL). 

Beech 58 Baron VH-KGK flew up to Labona from Archerfield before then departed back to there via Clermont Aerodrome.

And Brescon (Toowoomba) Beech B200 King Air VH-WXN also arrived into Clermont Aerodrome but from Toowoomba-Wellcamp Airport.  At the time of writing, it was due to return to Wellcamp early on Thursday 29 October.

Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail A30-003 Completes Missed Approach at Bundaberg and Hamilton Island Airports

On Wednesday 28 October, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft A30-003 "Wedgetail 12" was spotted as it completed airwork including a missed approach and low overshoot at Bundaberg Airport.




It appears that the Wedgetail flew up from RAAF Base Williamtown at Newcastle and completed a missed approach at Brisbane before heading to Bundy.  After completing the airwork, A30-003 continued further North where it completed more airwork at Hamilton Island Airport before then returning back directly to Williamtown.

Earlier in the morning, fellow RAAF Wedgetail A30-001 "Wedgetail 11" also flew up from Williamtown and completed a missed approach at Coffs Harbour before then heading towards Rockhampton.  However, Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Rockhampton Airport indicated they couldn't take the Wedgetail due to being too busy and the Wedgetail turned back and completed multiple circuits at the Sunshine Coast.  It then returned to Williamtown via Port Macquarie.

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday 28 October, RAAF Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-213 "Stallion 57" flew up from RAAF Base Amberley to the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) via low pass overhead Rockhampton.  In the training area, it reportedly completed an air drop as a part of an Australian Army training exercise.

A41-213 then then climbed back to mid flight levels via overhead Rocky again before then tracking back to Amberley via Gayndah and Murgon.

Gulf Coast Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang Bizjet VH-KXM Spotted at Rockhampton Airport - UPDATED! - Plus More!

On Tuesday 27 October, the visiting Gulf Coast Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang bizjet VH-KXM was noted departing Rockhampton Airport for the Sunshine Coast.


It had arrived into Rockhampton Airport from Cairns, Mareeba and Maramie (Dorunda) over the weekend.

UPDATE!  VH-KXM was spotted (above) arriving back into Rockhampton Airport from the Sunshine Coast but on Wednesday 28 October.  It then departed to Maramie (Dorunda) and Cairns.

Meanwhile, also noted departing Rockhampton Airport, also on Tuesday 27 October, and also after arriving over the weekend, was Gulf Aircraft Textron Aviation (Cessna) 208 Caravan VH-PYO which departed back to Donors Hill (south of Normanton).

While Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-TFQ arrived into Rockhampton Airport from Cairns as HND790.  It then started operating on the Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flight run from Rockhampton Airport to and from the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's Carmichael Coal Mine site - joining the recently arrived VH-LZK.

Fellow Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-ETF - which has been based at Rockhampton Airport for some time - then departed Rocky for Cairns as HND790.

Finally, Fly Weel Pilatus PC-12/47E VH-KWZ flew up to St Lawrence Airstrip from the Gold Coast, Lismore and Bundaberg Airport. This afternoon it reversed this flight. 

While Great Western Aviation Beech B200 VH-XGV made its weekly visit to my local Clermont Aerodrome also on Tuesday 27 October.  It arrived from and later departing back to Brisbane.

Queensland Government Airwing Raytheon Hawker 850XP Bizjet VH-SGY Pops into CQ Airports

On Tuesday 27 October, and with the State election coming up this weekend, the Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) Raytheon Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY was noted visiting some more Central Queensland Airports while on a busy day of flying out of and back to Brisbane.

It departed Brisbane and flew up to Mackay Airport before then flying South to Rockhampton Airport eventually Bundaberg Airport and the back to Brisbane.

Meanwhile, noted arriving back into Mackay Airport, also on Tuesday 27 October, was locally-based Embraer EMB-550 Legacy 500 bizjet N142GZ.  It touched down from Adelaide in South Australia.

N142GZ had departed Mackay Airport to South Australia some 11 days earlier.

RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-011 "Blackcat 05" & A47-009 "Blackcat 06" Both Complete Airwork at CQ Airports

On Tuesday 27 October, the two Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft that were noted flying North to Townsville the previous day, returned home to RAAF Base Edinburgh via airwork at a couple of Central Queensland Airports.

Poseidon A47-011 this time as "Blackcat 05", departed Townsville and was spotted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.






It then continued to complete more airwork at RAAF Base Amberley and Olympic Dam, also in South Australia, before returning to Edinburgh.

While the other Poseidon A47-009 this time as "Blackcat 06", also departed Townsville but was noted completing airwork including a missed approach at Mackay Airport.  It then continued to complete more airwork at Brisbane and also Olympic Dam before it too landed back at Edinburgh.

Of interest, also noted flying out and about from Edinburgh, also on Tuesday 27 October, was fellow P-8A Poseidons A47-001 "Blackcat 01" and A47-012 "Blackcat 04", with the latter flying via Broken Hill, Tamworth, RAAF Base Richmond and Adelaide.

Finally, also on Tuesday 27 October, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft A30-006 as "Wedgetail 01" was noted completing a missed approach at Longreach Airport while flying from RAAF Base Williamtown to Townsville.  It then returned to Williamtown.

RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-011 "Blackcat 02" Completes Airwork at Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport - Plus A47-009 "Blackcat 03" Also Around

On Monday 26 October, a pair Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft were noted completing airwork in parts of Queensland including at least one missed approach up at Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport.


Poseidon A47-011 was heard to be flying as "Blackcat 02" and looked to depart its home at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia before flying up to Townsville via airwork and missed approaches at RAAF Base Richmond, Brisbane and Proserpine Airport.

While Poseidon A47-009 was heard to be flying as "Blackcat 03" and also departed Edinburgh before also flying up to Townsville but via airwork at RAAF Base Amberley and Cairns where it was photographed above.

Of interest, a third Poseidon, A47-012 as "Blackcat 01" was also in the air out of Edinburgh but returned there after completing airwork at Albury and RAAF Base East Sale.

The "Blackcat" radio callsign suggests these P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft are of the RAAF's No. 11 Squadron based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.


The Squadron forms part of  No. 92 Wing which is the maritime patrol wing of the RAAF and is responsible for long-range surveillance, anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, search and survivor supply.

Jet City (Melbourne) Learjet 45 Bizjet VH-LJX Pops into Rockhampton Airport on Medevac Flight

On Monday 26 October, Jet City (Melbourne) Learjet 45 bizjet VH-LJX was noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport. It touched down directly from Sydney.

It appears that the Learjet may have visited the beef capital on a medical (organ) retrieval flight.

After around an hour on the ground, VH-LJX departed back to Sydney.

Meanwhile, also on Monday 26 October, LifeFlight (Aeromed) LearJet 45 bizjet VH-VVI "Ambulance 451" was back in the air after a long absence, noted visiting Emerald Airport, arriving from Townsville and departing to Brisbane.

Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) Aircraft - Raytheon Hawker 850XP Bizjet VH-SGY and Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-SGQ - Around CQ Airports

With the State Government election less than a week away, on Monday 26 October, both of the Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) aircraft - Raytheon Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY and Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-SGQ - were noted calling into a couple of CQ Airports.

Super King Air VH-SGQ flew up to Bowen Airport from Brisbane before it later was due to fly to Bundaberg Airport.  It instead, landed at Rockhampton Airport before returning to Brisbane.

While Hawker 850XP VH-SGY flew into Rockhampton Airport from Brisbane.  It then returned to Brisbane operating a medical evacuation flight.

Also on Monday 26 October, the Queensland Police Service (Airwing) (State of Queensland) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK was back in the air and also calling into Rockhampton Airport twice during a busy day of flying between Cairns and Brisbane.

Meanwhile, also on Monday 26 October, the visiting Gulf Aircraft Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign bizjet VH-PYN was noted departing Hamilton Island Airport for Brisbane.  It had arrived from there on Friday 23 October.

Finally, also on Monday 26 October, Seair Pacific / Istlecote Cessna 208 Caravan VH-TQW flew into Middlemount Aerodrome from Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) and Maryborough Airports before later returning to Hervey Bay Airport.

Of interest, also on Monday 26 October, fellow Seair Textron Aviation (Cessna) 208B Caravan VH-TLH completed another tourist charter flight from the Gold Coast to Charleville and Birdsville Airports.  At the time of writing, it is due to Longreach, Gladstone and Lady Elliot Island Airports on Tuesday 27 October.

While Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-LZK arrived into Rockhampton Airport as 'HND728' and joined fellow Cessna 208 Caravan VH-ETF in operating some of the daily Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flights to and back from the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's Carmichael Coal Mine site.

Corporate Aircraft Charter (SA) Cessna 550 Citation II Bizjet VH-ZLE Pops into Blackall and Longreach Airports

Late on Sunday 25 October, Corporate Aircraft Charter (South Australia) Cessna 550 Citation II bizjet VH-ZLE was noted visiting Blackall and Longreach Airports.

The familiar Citation which is possibly operating for Queensland Health (through LifeFlight) looked to arrive into Blackall Airport from it Brisbane base and then later depart back there from Longreach Airport.

Mitchell Water Cessna 525 Citation M2 Bizjet VH-WMY Pops into Hamilton Island Airport - Plus More!

On Sunday 25 October, Mitchell Water Cessna 525 Citation M2 bizjet VH-WMY was noted visiting Hamilton Island Airport during a busy day of flying.

VH-WMY looked to depart Melbourne (Moorabbin) for Renmark and Waikerie in South Australia before flying up to Hamo.  It then returned South to Melbourne (Essendon).

Meanwhile, also on Sunday 25 October, Gulf Coast Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang bizjet VH-KXM was noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport from Cairns, Mareeba and Maramie (Dorunda).  It appears to have stayed.

UPDATE!  On Tuesday 27 October, VH-KXM departed Rockhampton Airport for the Sunshine Coast.

Finally, also on Sunday 25 October, Gulf Aircraft Textron Aviation (Cessna) 208 Caravan VH-PYO arrived into Rockhampton Airport but from Donors Hill (South of Normanton) and also appeared to stay.

UPDATE!  On Tuesday 27 October, VH-PYO departed Rockhampton Airport and returned to Donors Hill.

A Pair of RAAF Alenia C-27J Spartan Transport Aircraft Pop Into Longreach Airport - A34-007 "Wallaby 61" & A34-003 "Wallaby 62"

Making a rare weekend appearance on Saturday 24 October was a pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft which were noted visiting Longreach Airport.

They were identified as A34-007 which was flying as "Wallaby 61" and A34-003 as "Wallaby 62".

Both Spartans are of the RAAF’s 35 Squadron and flew up close together from their home at RAAF Base Amberley.  After a short time on the ground, both Spartans departed Longreach Airport for RAAF Base Scherger via airwork at nearby Weipa.  They then flew down to Townsville where they looked to be spending the night.

UPDATE!  On Sunday 25 October, both Spartans returned to Amberley from Townsville, both flying via Birdsville.

As mentioned previously, the Alenia C-27J Spartan is a military transport aircraft developed and manufactured by Alenia Aermacchi. The RAAF has ten C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifters with 35 Squadron based at RAAF Base Amberley after they were ordered by in May 2012 to replace the now-retired De Havilland DHC-4 Caribou fleet.


The RAAF C-27J Spartan aircraft complements the capabilities of the current C-130J Hercules and C-17A Globemaster aircraft and uses common C-130J Hercules infrastructure and aircraft systems such as engines, avionics and the cargo handling systems. They will be equipped with missile warning systems, electronic self-protection and battlefield armour allowing them to operate freely in high-threat environments.

Australian Corporate Jet Centres' Embraer EMB-135BJ Legacy Bizjet VH-VLT Pops into Hamilton Island Airport - Plus More!

On Saturday 24 October, Australian Corporate Jet Centres operated Embraer EMB-135BJ Legacy bizjet VH-VLT was noted visiting Hamilton Island Airport. It looked to arrive from Melbourne (Essendon) and Adelaide.

After a short time on the ground, VH-VLT then departed Hamo for Brisbane.

Meanwhile, also on Saturday 24 October, Flight One (Services) Cessna 172 VH-SIH and Australia Wings Academy Cessna 172 VH-EWW looked to arrive into Rockhampton Airport after flying up together from the Gold Coast.  They then continued to Mackay Airport and Cairns. 

UPDATE!  On Sunday 25 October, both VH-SIH and VH-EWW departed Cairns for Hughenden and Longreach Airport.

UPDATE!  On Monday 26 October, both VH-SIH and VH-EWW returned to the Gold Coast flying from Longreach Airport via Roma Airport.

While Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-NDC looked to depart Rockhampton Airport for Cairns as HND626.  It has been completing daily flights to and from the Labona Station Airstrip within Adani Australia's Carmichael Coal Mine site.

Fellow Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-ETF remains parked at Rockhampton Airport.

And fellow Hinterland Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan VH-CVN looked to call into Hamilton Island Airport on Friday 23 October although its exact movements are not fully known.

Finally, 1947-built Cessna 190 VH-ONA was noted passing through Rockhampton Airport, arriving from Toowoomba and later continuing to the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour.

LifeFlight (Aeromed) Canadair Challenger 604 Bizjet VH-OFC "Ambulance 634" Calls into Longreach and Blackall Airports

Over the last day or so, LifeFlight (Aeromed) Canadair CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet VH-OFC "Ambulance 634" has made a couple of visits to Central Western Queensland.

While this evening on Saturday 24 October, VH-OFC "Ambulance 634" was noted visiting Blackall Airport, arriving from and later departing back to its Townsville base.

Two RAAF Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetails A30-006 & A30-005 Complete Airwork at Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport

On Friday 23 October, a pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft were noted completing airwork at Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport during two separate visits.

During the morning, Wedgetail A30-006 as "Wedgetail 24" flew up from RAAF Base Williamtown to Hervey Bay Airport where it completed three missed approaches.  A30-006 then returned South to Williamtown via more airwork RAAF Base Richmond.

Then during the afternoon, A30-005 as "Wedgetail 25" also flew up from Williamtown to RAAF Base Amberley and then Hervey Bay Airport where it too completed a missed approach.  A30-005 then returned to Williamtown via more airwork at Coffs Harbour.

A Pair of Austrek Aviation Lighties Pop into CQ Airports - Plus More!

On Friday 23 October, Austrek Aviation Cessna 310R VH-DZX was noted visiting Rockhampton Airport.  It arrived from and later departed back to its Toowoomba base.

While fellow Austrek Aviation Beech B200 Super King Air VH-ZGD called into Truganinnie from Toowoomba and Archerfield before later returning to Toowoomba.

Meanwhile, a gaggle of other light General Aviation (GA) aircraft were noted visiting other CQ Airports, also on Friday 23 October, including Cirrus SR22s VH-EDH and VH-FJD which called into Hamilton Island Airport and Rockhampton and the Whitsunday (Shute Harbour) Airports respectively.

Toowoomba-based Cessna 182 VH-YRA also popped into Rockhampton and the Whitsunday Airports.

While Amateur-built Lancair Legacy 2 VH-VIV flew up to Shute from Noosa before continuing up to Dunk Island. 

And Bell 407 VH-CMI was noted departing from its home at the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour and heading down an inland route near to Blackwater.

Finally, Colville Aviation Services Pilatus Britten-Norman BN2B-26 VH-ZOU was noted passing through Emerald Airport while flying to Mareeba from the South-East corner of the state - possibly Watts Bridge where it was possibly undergoing planned maintenance.

Gulf Aircraft (Brisbane) Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign Bizjet VH-PYN Arrives into Hamilton Island Airport

On Friday 23 October, Gulf Aircraft Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign bizjet VH-PYN was noted arriving into Hamilton Island Airport. It looked to fly up from Brisbane.

At the time of writing it appears to be staying at Hamo for at least the night.

UPDATE!  On Monday 26 October, VH-PYN departed Hamilton Island Airport and returned to Brisbane.

And Avcair Embraer 500 Phenom 100EV Bizjet VH-NJR Calls into Maryborough Airport

Also on Thursday 22 October, the sleek Avcair Embraer 500 Phenom 100EV bizjet VH-NJR was back in Central Queensland, noted arriving into Maryborough Airport from its Brisbane base.

At the time of writing, it appears that VH-NJR is staying at Maryborough Airport for at least the night.

UPDATE!  Early on Friday 23 October, it appears that VH-NJR departed Maryborough Airport and returned to Brisbane.

Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-SGQ Spotted at Bundaberg Airport - Plus More!

On Thursday 22 October, the Queensland Government Airwing (State of Queensland) Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-SGQ was spotted visiting Bundaberg Airport.  It looked to arrive from Brisbane.


After a couple of hours on the ground, VH-SGQ then continued up to Rockhampton Airport where it appears to be spending the night parked.

VH-SGQ is due to return to Brisbane from Rockhampton Airport on Friday 23 October.

Meanwhile, also spotted at Bundaberg Airport, also on Thursday 22 October, were a pair of McDermott Aviation / Heli-Lift Australia bushfire fighting helicopters in the form of Bell 214B-1 Biglifter helicopter VH-SUH "Helitack 417" and Aerospatiale AS.355F1 Squirrel VH-RLR "Helitack 460".



Finally, also on Thursday 22 October, the familiar sight of Corporate Aviation Bell 429 Global Ranger helicopter VH-EQP was back in CQ.  It looked to depart Emerald Airport for (possibly) Middlemount, Mackay and Biloela / Thangool Airports.  It then returned to its Southport base.

Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail A30-006 Completes Airwork at CQ Airports

On Thursday 22 October, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft A30-006 was noted completing airwork at Central Queensland Airports during two separate visits.

It initially flew up from RAAF Base Williamtown as "Wedgetail 20" to Mackay Airport where it completed airwork.  A30-006 then flew South to Williamtown but via Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport where it completed a missed approach.

During the afternoon, A30-006, now as "Wedgetail 23" returned to CQ, flying up again from Williamtown via a missed approach at the Gold Coast to Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport where it completed another missed approach.

A30-006 then returned to Williamtown via another missed approach but at Coffs Harbour.

Meanwhile, also on Thursday 22 October, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7DT(BBJ) A36-001 was noted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.  It flew up from and later returned to its Canberra base.

Another Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47D Chinook Helicopter Pops into Rockhampton Airport - Then Heads to Townsville!

On Thursday 22 October, a third Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopter was photographed arriving into Rockhampton Airport.  Like the two that arrived the previous day, it too flew into Rocky direct from its base at Oakey.


The CH-47D Chinook helicopter was identified wearing the serial number 88183 and joined 88181 and 88182 on the ground at Rockhampton Airport.  It was heard to use the radio callsign of "Cyclops 83".







A little later, Chinook 88181 "Cyclops 81" departed Rockhampton Airport for Townsville.  It was photographed (below) arriving into Townsville.


It was later joined by 88183 which also departed Rockhampton Airport for Townsville again as "Cyclops 83".

The RSAF Chinooks have deployed to Townsville reportedly to complete a series of exercises possibly alongside resident Townsville-based Australian Army helicopters.

It appears that 88182 is still at Rockhampton Airport and has possibly suffered a technical problem.

UPDATE!  On Friday 23 October, RSAF Chinook 88182 departed Rockhampton Airport for Oakey again as "Cyclops 82".
