AirServices Australia / Pearl Aviation Super King Air VH-FIY Calls into Rockhampton Airport

On Monday 18 August, AirServices Australia / Pearl Aviation Hawker Beechcraft B300 Super King Air VH-FIY called into Rockhampton Airport from Brisbane.  On Tuesday 19 August, VH-FIY operated a four-hour navigational aid (navaid) calibration flight out of Rocky.

Local plane spotter 'IAD' captured a quick photo of VH-FIY resting on the General Aviation (GA) Apron at Rockhampton Airport.  VH-FIY has been noted using its usual flight number of 'ADA3' and heard to be using the radio callsign of "AusCal 3".

It appears that VH-FIY will again stay overnight on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile also operating in and out of Rockhampton Airport were locally-based Atlass Aviation Vulcanair (Partenavia) P.68C aircraft VH-CFT and VH-KBO.

VH-KBO (shown above also on Tuesday 19 August) was noted flying to Biloela / Thangool Airport on Monday 18 August.  VH-CFT operated a local flight from and back to Rocky on Monday, before also flying to Biloela / Thangool Airport on Tuesday 19 August.

Atlass Aviation (Aerial Topographic Laser Survey Systems) operates aerial survey flights predominately out of Rockhampton to nearby Bowen Basin mine sites using a fleet of four aircraft - the two Vulcanair aircraft, plus Cessna U206G VH-JEK and Beechcraft A36 Bonanza VH-IOL.  See more at their website:  http://www.atlass.com.au/

Finally, an interesting visitor to Rockhampton Airport from 'out of town' was Tasmanian-based Aerospatiale AS.350BA Squirrel helicopter VH-BAA.

In the photo below, 'IAD' notes that he captured three blue and yellow coloured helicopters with VH-BAA pictured, along with Bell 412's VH-LSY and VH-EPR.  VH-EPR is inside the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service (CHRS) hangar currently receiving attention.

Sincere thanks to 'IAD' for the capturing and sending through these fantastic photos!
