Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232(WL) VH-YXW (ex JA18JJ) Makes First Visit to CQ at Mackay Airport

On Wednesday 12 January, Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232(WL) VH-YXW was noted making its first visit to Central Queensland at Mackay Airport as it completed the JST886/887 service from and back to Brisbane.

Of interest, VH-YXW is one of four recently delivered Airbus A320 aircraft that have entered service with Jetstar Airways that all previously operated with Jetstar Japan. This A320 was previously operated by Jetstar Japan as JA18JJ and was originally ferried to Alice Springs in December 2020.  It was then placed on the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-YXW with this registration marking 'taped' over the Japanese registration marking.

VH-YXW (JA18JJ) was then ferried from Alice Springs to Brisbane on Friday 15 October 2021 with it then formally entering service out of Melbourne (Tullamarine) on Wednesday 22 December.

Of interest, also recently entering service were fellow former Jetstar Japan A320s VH-YXS (ex JA17JJ), VH-YXT (ex JA23JJ / EC-LZF) and VH-YXV (ex JA11JJ) which were all delivered direct to Brisbane from Japan.

Finally, another two airframes are still are stored at Alice Springs - VH-YXU (ex JA06JJ) and VH-YXQ (ex JA12JJ).
