Other Interesting Arrivals at Central Queensland Airports This Week

As well as the "Queen of the Skies" in the form of Qantas Airways Boeing B747-400 VH-OJD visiting Rockhampton Airport this week, a few other interesting aircraft have passed through Central Queensland Airports this week that are worth mentioning.

Also spotted at Rockhampton Airport this week has been Surveillance Australia (Australian Customs Service) Dash-8-202 VH-ZZI, which is shown parked for the night at Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 6 June. 

Ben O also sent through a couple of nice photos of Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-XWQ, which is pictured departing Rockhampton Airport on Thursday 7 June operating a scheduled flight to Brisbane on behalf of QantasLink.

Meanwhile, Alliance operated a total of 10 scheduled QantasLink services between Brisbane and Emerald this week.  On Tuesday 5 June, Fokker F-70 VH-QQX was noted operating the flights, while on Thursday 7 June and Friday 8 June, Fokker F-100 VH-FWH was again operating the flights for QantasLink - as shown on CQ Plane Spotting Blog earlier in the week.

Further West out at Longreach, on Wednesday 6 June, a Chinese registered Lear Jet 35A bizjet passed through Longreach Airport. This beauty is believed to be an ex-Chinese Air Force aircraft and is registered B-4187. It flew in from Sydney and departed to Darwin.

Meanwhile, at Gladstone Airport this week, Jamie C sent through a couple of photos of Virgin Australia (Skywest Airlines-operated) ATR 72-500 VH-FVU at Gladstone Airport late on Tuesday 5 June.  It's great to note is the new Airport apron lighting at Gladstone Airport is now in use, and certainly brightens up the busier apron.

A great surprise arrival at Gladstone Airport late on Thursday 7 June was an Australian Army Sikorsky S70A-9 Blackhawk helicopter with serial A25-206.  Jamie C was lucky to catch the chopper as it departed in the late afternoon sun.

Also captured in the lovely evening light at Gladstone Airport on Thursday 7 June was General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) AeroCommander 500-S VH-MEH as it was preparing to depart on its evening freight flight to Rockhampton and Thangool/Biloela.

Lastly, on Thursday 7 June, Southwest Air DHC-6 Twin Otter P2-SWE passed through Mackay Airport on its journey back home to Papua New Guinea.  It had passed through Rockhampton Airport early last month when destined for maintenance at Archerfield in Brisbane.
