The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating and so far reports that "The aircraft sustained a wildlife strike after the pilot initiated a go-around due to birds near the runway".

It is understood that the aircraft possibly even hit a cow once on the ground.  VH-CYK is believed to have sustained substantial damage.
