Retired QantasLink Dash-8-200s VH-SDA & VH-SDE Leave Australia

Last week we posted about the two QantasLink Dash-8-200s - VH-SDA and VH-SDE - which have both recently been sold overseas and removed from the Australian aircraft register.

After being de-registered in early June, and sitting idle at Sydney Airport with all red tails and their titles removed, they finally departed Australia this week on (presumably) their long journey to Canada where they are now registered.

The two Dash-8-200s - C-FEAQ (ex VH-SDE, which had its last revenue service on Friday 9 May) and C-FEBU (ex VH-SDA, which had its last revenue service on Tuesday 13 May), departed Sydney for Pago Pago and Honolulu on Tuesday 1 July.

Both aircraft are registered to the Avmax Group (Canada), who appear to be an aircraft leasing company.  There is speculation (unfortunately) that they could be scrapped.

I hope not!  I have very fond memories of flying on VH-SDA and VH-SDE most holidays!

  1. They have both gone on to Air Greenland. The 200 series Dash is too rare to scrap!
