A Pair of Light Aircraft Fly-ins Pop into Central Queensland Airports This Week

A couple of groups of light General Aviation (GA) aircraft have been heard flying through different parts of Central Queensland over the last week or so.

After appearing to depart Toowoomba last Monday 8 October and travelling to the 'Red Centre' of Australia and Northern parts of the Northern Territory and Queensland, a group of at least seven Cessna aircraft were noted arriving into Hamilton Island Airport from Ingham on Sunday 21 October.

They were noted continuing to Gladstone and Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airports on Wednesday 24 October and are due to return home to Toowoomba on Saturday 27 October.

The aircraft involved looked to include Cessna 182s VH-MLE, VH-JQC, VH-NDP, VH-LHB, VH-JCU, Cessna 172 VH-TWB and Cessna 206 VH-EPL.

Meanwhile, The Royal Newcastle Aero Club 2018 Queensland Safari group four light GA aircraft were noted calling into Roma and Longreach Airports Sunday 21 October.  They looked to originally depart Maitland in New South Wales.

On Tuesday 23 October, they flew across to the Whitsunday Airport at Shute Harbour (pictured above).  Then, over the course of Thursday 25 October, they departed there for Rockhampton Airport and then the Sunshine Coast where they remain parked.

The aircraft involved looked to include Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee VH-CTJ, Cessna 182s VH-PGC and VH-MVL and Cirrus SR22 VH-REY.
