At around 8.30am on Saturday, the pilot experienced vibrations in the cockpit and made a mayday call after realising the plane, which was on a joyflight from Mackay Airport, was having engine issues.

It landed safely near the Racecourse mill, and police escorted the plane back to the airport which as shown on the Channel 7 television news, was loaded on the back of a flat-bed truck.

Both the Australia Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority were reportedly notified of the incident.
