On Tuesday 23 October, a nice pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aircraft were spotted completing airwork at Rockhampton Airport.
RAAF Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-003 was first spotted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport. It appeared to fly South from Townsville to Rocky having flown up there on Monday 22 October.
After completing its airwork at Rocky, A47-003, which was incidentally making its first visit to Central Queensland, departed to RAAF Base Williamtown where it completed more airwork before it flew across to RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
A47-003 was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Mariner 41" which is also of the RAAF's 292 Squadron.
Then, a little later in the morning on Tuesday 23 October, RAAF Boeing B737-7ES / E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft A30-005 was also spotted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.
It looked to fly up from and then later return to its RAAF Base Williamtown base. A30-005 was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Mitchell 11".
Sincere thanks to local plane spotters 'IAD' and Scott H for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
