An interesting visitor passed through Central Queensland this week in the form of Pearl Aviation Hawker Beechcraft B300 Super King Air VH-FIY. This King Air is one of four that AirServices Australia operates to calibrate the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and other navaids at airports around Australia.

On Wednesday 10 April, VH-FIY departed Townsville (where it is pictured above) and conducted several missed approaches and other airwork around Hamilton Island Airport, before eventually landing at Mackay. It departed later in the day for Brisbane. VH-FIY usually uses the radio callsign "Auscal 3" and flight number of 'ADA3'.
