A Momentous Day at Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport as Tigerair Touches Down from Sydney

A fantastic morning was had at Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport on Tuesday 1 April as Tigerair (Tiger Airways ) Australia Airbus A320 VH-VNH touched down just after 9.30am as the inaugural TT394 service from Sydney.

Townsville plane spotter Dave travelled to Proserpine to capture the action for us, and he kindly shares these great images from the day.

VH-VNH - which has recently been repainted into the new Tigerair colour scheme - parked on the North-Western corner of the Proserpine Airport apron.  Disembarking passengers were greeted to a very warm welcome from the Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor and other politicians and dignitaries - and the typically warm and tropical Whitsundays weather!

Formalities at the Airport complete, VH-VNH was loaded and departed a little behind schedule on the first TT393 service back to Sydney.

This marks the beginning of the new thrice weekly flights - every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - linking the Whitsundays with Sydney for the first time since 2008.

There is a large advertising billboard near to the Airport, and the check-in area inside the terminal building has been modified to include two Tigerair check-in counters.

Sincere thanks to Dave for taking the time to capture these awesome images and for sending them through so we can share with you this fantastic day for Whitsundays tourism.

Thanks also the Whitsunday Regional Council for their assistance as well!
