Victoria-based Piper PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II VH-UNW Suffers Engine Failure While Heading to Emerald Airport - UPDATED!

During the afternoon on Monday 18 February, Victoria-based Piper PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II VH-UNW suffered engine failure while flying from Walgett in New South Wales to Emerald.

With power to communicate and control the aircraft, the pilot reportedly was able to 'glide' around 20 miles and land safely at St George Airport.

UPDATE!  On Tuesday 19 February, VH-UNW was able to continue its journey to the Whitsundays, departing St George for Emerald Airport before continuing to Hamilton Island Airport where it looks to be spending the night.

UPDATE!  On Thursday 21 February, VH-UNW returned South, departing Hamilton Island Airport for Emerald Airport and ports to the South.
