Queensland Government (QGAir) Rescue Agusta AW139 Helicopter VH-EZJ Passes Through Emerald Airport Heading North

On Tuesday 8 February, Queensland Government (QGAir) Rescue Agusta AW139 helicopter VH-EZJ was noted passing through Emerald Airport while ferrying North from Archerfield to Townsville.

VH-EZJ looks to have spent the previous couple of months undergoing planned maintenance after it had originally flown South from Townsville during December 2021.  It has also been noted in more recent weeks, operating out of Archerfield within the South-East corner of the state as "Rescue 500".

As posted below, fellow QGAir Rescue Leonardo S.P.A. Helicopter (Agusta) AW139 helicopter VH-EGK was noted ferrying South from Cairns and Townsville to Archerfield via Rockhampton Airport on Monday 7 February.

As we have mentioned previously, this is part of the 'rotational system' the service utilises to ensure the even distribution of flying hours on each of the QGAir Rescue helicopters. This system avoids the need to have multiple helicopters offline for simultaneous scheduled maintenance.
