Also at Gladstone Airport on Sunday 11 October, local plane spotter Michael F captured some photos of QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOM which has been grounded at Gladstone Airport since it arrived from Brisbane as QLK2582 on Wednesday 7 October.
Reports suggest that while on final approach into Gladstone, VH-QOM hit a bird or a flying fox which caused a significant crack to the flap extender on the starboard-side wing. The part has been removed for replacement while VH-QOM remains grounded at Gladstone Airport.
UPDATE! After nearly a week on the ground, VH-QOM finally departed Gladstone Airport late on Tuesday 13 October as QLK2509 to Brisbane.
