RAAF Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-001 Missed Approach at Rockhampton Airport Wednesday

It was interesting to note that Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-001 performed a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport late on Wednesday 6 April.

It looked to fly up from RAAF Base Amberley and then continued North to Townsville after completing the airwork at Rocky.  A39-001 was flying as "Dragon 7".

Meanwhile, RAAF Beech B350 Super King Air A32-651 was back at Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 6 April and also performed a missed approach while flying North from RAAF Base Amberley to Townsville.  It was flying as "Dingo 10".

    could you explain a missed approach there seems to be a few of these happening at rockhampton with airforce planes. Is it a training thing or is something amiss. There was one on tuesday evening coming out of the south then a low fly over then a missed approach from the northwest then up and away then it headed south

    Purely training Les. The aircraft completes every aspect of the landing sequence - including lowering the landing gear - but at or about 'minimums' they power-up and abort the landing and fly away.
