Yet More Fantastic Photos of United States Air Force (USAF) Lockheed C-5B Galaxy 86-0018 at Rockhampton Airport

Rockhampton aircraft and aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters had an absolutely fantastic weekend of plane spotting action with the visit of three various United States Air Force (USAF) and United States Navy (USN) transport aircraft to Rockhampton Airport on Saturday 10 August.

As the Blog posts below have already highlighted, the star attraction was the massive USAF Lockheed C-5B Galaxy 86-0018 which touched down in the beef capital late on Friday 9 August from Hawaii.

86-0018 wears the "Patriot Wing" tailstripe of Westover Air Reserve Base (ARB) in Massachusetts, and is flown by the 439th Airlift Wing (439th AW) of the United States Air Force Reserve.

Spotters were also able to capture spectacular images of the Galaxy parked on Gate 6 throughout Saturday - including later in the day when the largest aircraft in the USAF fleet was opened up and two USN Sikorsky HH-60H Seahawk helicopters were loaded.

Rockhampton Aero Club Secretary Paul T was also able to capture some stunning images of the Galaxy framing fellow USAF transport aircraft Boeing C-17A Globemaster III 05-5143, which spent most of its time parked at the Northern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron.

Early on Saturday 10 August, spotters were also able to capture USN Lockheed C-130T Hercules transport aircraft serial 165160 / JW5160.

It was certainly a busy day with some very spectacular sights.  Sincere thanks to all the Rockhampton aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters who have sent through their wonderful images to the Central Queensland Plane Spotting Blog.
