Round Australia Replica Spitfire on Display at Rockhampton Airport Saturday

The Rockhampton Aero Club and the Rockhampton Regional Council hosted special visitor at Rockhampton Airport on Saturday 9 July in the form of a replica Spitfire Mk26B VH-LZC.

The Spitfire is presently on an around-Australia trip to raise money for Cancer research and the Leukaemia Foundation.

The pilot, Brian Scoffell, who suffered from and beat lymphocytic leukaemia, is taking his son, Stewart, on the trip which will take them to 20 destinations around the country. They began their adventure today from Brisbane.

A section of Rockhampton Airport was set aside for the public to have a closer look at the 90% scale replica Spitfire which touched down around 10am.

The Rockhampton Aero Club took the opportunity to display Cessna 150 VH-RZN.

Elsewhere, there were displays of model and remote-controlled aircraft (including the first ever A380 at Rockhampton Airport!!), as well as MG and hot rod cars, who provided joyrides throughout the morning.
