Mackay Airport set to Benefit From More Refurbishments

Mackay Airport will be a hive of activity in the coming months, with about $1 million set to be poured into refurbishments part of the terminal and outside facilities.


Work to be done includes new floor tiling in the baggage claim area and departure lounge, as well as new carpeting in the check-in area, installation of bright new furniture, improvements to smoking areas, a re-alignment of the security screening area and arrival gates, and investment into the road network outside the airport terminal.

The Mackay Airport currently welcomes about 1.2 million passengers each year.

The Airport Authority expects that the majority of all this work will be completed by the end of May.
