Pel Air Avaition SAAB 340A VH-EKD Spotted at Mackay Airport

As the election campaign goes on, we continue to see the two chartered Pel Air / Regional Express (REX) SAAB 340 aircraft travelling up and down the Queensland coast.

On Thursday 8 January, Pel Air SAAB 340A VH-EKD was spotted at Mackay Airport after earlier arriving from Townsville.

After overnighting, and showing initial plans to fly to Rockhampton, VH-EKD has in fact departed Mackay for Gladstone on Friday 9 January.  As mentioned, VH-EKD is carrying the ALP leader Annastacia Palaszczuk and associated media.

Meanwhile, REX coloured SAAB 340B VH-ZRY departed Rockhampton for Townsville during the afternoon of Thursday 8 January.  It had arrived the previous evening from Maryborough.  VH-ZRY is carrying Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and associated media.

No doubt between this week and the election at the end of the month, we will be seeing quite a bit of these aircraft!
