Air Affairs (Australia) Learjet 35A VH-LFA "Ajax 44" Pops into Rockhampton Airport in Support of Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Seahawk Helicopter

On Saturday 7 September,  GoJet / Air Affairs (Australia)  Learjet 35A bizjet VH-LFA was noted visiting Rockhampton Airport.  It looked to arrive from HMAS Albatross at Nowra in New South Wales and heard to be using the radio callsign of "Ajax 44".

It is believed that it may have brought in 'spare parts' for the broken down Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk 'Romeo' naval combat helicopter N48-005 (Code 905) which was noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport as "Tiger 05" on Friday 6 September.

After a short while on the ground, the Learjet 35A was noted departing Rockhampton Airport and returning to Nowra again as "Ajax 44".

It appears the Seahawk was fixed and departed Rockhampton Airport later on Saturday 7 September to parts unknown again as "Tiger 05".

Of interest, and as mentioned previously, Air Affairs (Australia) was established in 1984 with headquarters based at the Albatross Aviation Technology Park at Nowra in New South Wales.  They have been providing target services, fire surveillance and precision engineering support services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), other military forces and Governments since 1995.

Since October 2015, Air Affairs (Australia) has been providing specific services to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) under the Jet Air Support Contract which provides Training Support Tasks including Aerial Target Towing and Tactical Flight Missions in various locations across Australia.

Sincere thanks to the local plane spotters who were able to capture and send through these great photos!
