Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-001 "Mariner 02" Missed Approach at Rockhampton Airport

On Thursday 26 September, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-001 was noted completing a missed approach at Rockhampton airport.

Flying as "Mariner 02", the Poseidon originally departed its home at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia and eventually completed airwork at RAAF Base Amberley.  From there it flew North and completed a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.

After completing its airwork at Rocky, A47-001 continued to Townsville where it looked to be spending the night.

It is possible that A47-001 will be back in CQ on Friday 27 September given previous similar flights with the Poseidon possibly due to return back to Edinburgh.

UPDATE!  Indeed on Friday 27 September, A47-001 - now as "Mariner 03" - was spotted completing airwork at Hamilton Island and Mackay Airports before continuing South to RAAF Base Williamtown and then RAAF Base Edinburgh.  See our Blog post above for some photos from Mackay Airport!
