Wet Weather Diversons and more at Central Queensland Airports Sunday and Monday
Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VGU was noted arriving at Mackay Airport on Sunday 18 March as JST830. This is the morning flight from Brisbane to Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport, however with very inclement weather around Proserpine yesterday, the flight was forced to divert and land at Mackay.
On Monday 19 March, another Jetstar A320, this time VH-JQX, had three failed attempts at landing at Hamilton Island Airport. The aircraft - operating JQ842 - Sydney to Hamilton Island - diverted to Brisbane.
Also on Monday 19 March, a pair of Skytrans Dash-8 aircraft that were operating fly-in fly-out (FIFO) charters from Brisbane to Clermont were forced to divert to Emerald Airport. With the lack of parking spaces at Emerald Airport, these aircraft were expected to try to land again at Clermont, or simply return to Brisbane.
It is believed that the usual Monday evening Skytrans FIFO charters to Clermont from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, have been delayed until Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile back at Emerald Airport, a pair of Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 aircraft were noted flying FIFO charters from Brisbane as well. VH-FKG operated as UTY2230/2231, while VH-FKF operated as UTY4590/4591.
